Anchorages — Jolly Harbour, North Antigua & Barbuda
Antigua's largest marina (350+ berths), boat-only beaches at Five Islands, uninhabited Green Island with pristine coral, and the extraordinary sister island of Barbuda — 17 miles of pink sand and 5,000 magnificent frigatebirds.
Barbuda Approach — Critical Warnings
Current charts mandatory: Barbuda is a low, flat coral limestone island surrounded by numerous unmarked coral heads. Do not navigate by GPS alone — eyeball navigation in good light with current charts is essential. Codrington Lagoon entrance: charted depths as little as 0.8m; actual navigable approximately 1.8m (6 feet) — approach very slowly with depth sounder; contact Codrington village on VHF 16 for a local guide. Hurricane Irma recovery (2017): Barbuda was virtually destroyed in 2017 — facilities remain limited; verify fuel, water, and provisions availability before visiting. Stock completely in Antigua. Codrington Lagoon sanctuary: No motorised vessels in flamingo and frigatebird sanctuary zones — guided boat tours from Codrington only; fines apply.
