About This Anchorage

Nanny Cay is a well-developed marina and resort complex approximately 2.5nm southwest of Road Town on Tortola's south coast. The marina has been significantly rebuilt following Hurricane Irma (2017) and now offers 200+ berths, a full-service boatyard, fuel dock, chandlery, restaurants, pool, and DIY boat work facilities. The outer anchorage provides a quieter alternative to Road Harbour with good holding in sand. The Nanny Cay Resort has a popular bar and restaurant, and the complex includes a well-stocked chandlery (Nanny Cay Chandlery). Many charter companies are based here. The anchorage is exposed to southwest but this wind direction is unusual under normal NE trade conditions.

Skipper's Tips

  • Nanny Cay Chandlery is one of the best-stocked in the BVI — plan any spares purchases here
  • The boatyard offers haul-out services — useful for bottom jobs or repairs before the season
  • The marina pool and bar are accessible to visiting yachtsmen — a good stop for a meal and shower
  • Fuel is competitively priced here compared to some outer islands — top up before heading west
