About This Anchorage
Spring Bay is a beautiful, less-crowded alternative to The Baths just 0.5nm to the north on Virgin Gorda's southwest coast. The NPS manages mooring buoys here within the same marine park zone. The granite boulders are smaller than The Baths but the snorkelling and swimming environment is excellent and far less crowded. The beach is pristine. Locals and experienced BVI sailors often prefer Spring Bay over The Baths precisely because it retains the natural beauty without the tour boat crowds. The bay is part of the same NPS marine park — mooring buoys preferred, anchoring only in sand where moorings are unavailable. The spring for which the bay is named once provided fresh water to the area.
