Cape Greco Natura 2000 MPA — Anchoring Prohibited in Core Zone

Cape Greco and the surrounding marine area is a designated EU Natura 2000 Marine Protected Area (Special Area of Conservation). Anchoring is strictly prohibited within the MPA core zone — yellow mooring buoys provided by the Cyprus Dept. of Fisheries must be used (May–October). Fines of €500 or more apply. The park boundary also extends into the sea from Cape Greco National Forest Park. Posidonia meadows are EU-protected throughout Cypriot waters — snorkel to verify a sand patch before dropping anchor in any bay.
