About This Anchorage
Nanuya Lailai is the island in the northern Yasawa Group that forms one side of the spectacular Blue Lagoon — the turquoise, reef-enclosed lagoon between Nanuya Lailai and Nanuya Levu, made famous by the name if not the actual film location (which was at Sawa-i-Lau). The lagoon has extraordinary clear turquoise water, white sand, and enclosing coral reef — a genuinely spectacular anchorage. The Nanuya Lailai Resort (Turtle Island Resort — all-inclusive, limited to 14 couples) occupies most of the island; visiting yachts anchor in the lagoon portion not associated with the resort. The snorkelling and diving in the lagoon are exceptional — stingrays, turtles, reef sharks, and abundant reef fish. Sawa-i-Lau (Blue Lagoon Caves) is just 5nm north, making this the natural base for visiting the cave system by dinghy. Sevusevu required at the local village.
