Anchorages in Kiel & the Baltic Coast
No tides — but avoid Kiel in the last week of June (Kieler Woche)
The Baltic has a tidal range of only 0.1–0.3m — water level varies with wind and atmospheric pressure, not the moon. No tidal planning required. However, avoid Kiel during Kieler Woche (last week of June): 3,000 racing yachts and 500,000 spectators make the harbour and approaches dangerous and all marina berths fully booked months in advance. The Schlei inland fjord has a draught limit of 1.8m and a 9kt speed limit throughout.
