Voutoumi Beach, Antipaxos Anchorage Guide
Also known as: Βουτουμί, Antipaxoi Voutoumi
Voutoumi is the second of Antipaxos's two world-famous beaches, located around the headland SE of Vrika. The water is extraordinary — deep turquoise over white sand — and the setting is arguably even more dramatic than Vrika, with steeper cliffs and a more enclosed feel. The bay opens more toward the SE and so is slightly better protected from the prevailing NW Maestro than Vrika, making it a slightly more comfortable overnight anchorage. It is somewhat less crowded than Vrika (slightly harder for day-trip boats to access), but still very busy in July–August. A small beach bar operates in summer. Overnight stays are very pleasant once the day-trip boats leave.

Setting Your Anchor
The bottom at Voutoumi Beach, Antipaxos is primarily sand with reliable holding when properly set. Use the following approach:
- Approach slowly and check your depth sounder on the way in. At 4–8m, deploy at minimum 7:1 scope (56m chain at 8m depth).
- Drop into the wind or current and pay out chain steadily as the boat drifts back — do not allow chain to pile on the anchor.
- Set firmly in reverse. Apply moderate throttle astern for 30–60 seconds. The chain should tighten without the boat moving backwards.
- Take a GPS bearing. Note your position once set and compare to the scope calculator to confirm you have adequate chain for the depth.
Recommended anchor types for this bottom: Rocna, Mantus, Delta. See our guide to anchor types by bottom for detailed comparisons.
