Loggos, Paxos Anchorage Guide
Also known as: Longos, Λόγγος
Loggos is arguably the most picturesque village on Paxos — a cluster of Venetian-style buildings around a tiny quay, olive presses, and a handful of excellent tavernas. The anchorage off the village is comfortable in the prevailing NW Maestro. Loggos sees slightly fewer boats than Lakka, making it a pleasant alternative in July–August. The quay berths are small — Mediterranean-style stern-to anchoring off the quay. Walking around Paxos from Loggos is rewarding: the island is criss-crossed with stone-walled paths through ancient olive groves.

Setting Your Anchor
The bottom at Loggos, Paxos is primarily mud and sand with reliable holding when properly set. Use the following approach:
- Approach slowly and check your depth sounder on the way in. At 3–5m, deploy at minimum 7:1 scope (35m chain at 5m depth).
- Drop into the wind or current and pay out chain steadily as the boat drifts back — do not allow chain to pile on the anchor.
- Set firmly in reverse. Apply moderate throttle astern for 30–60 seconds. The chain should tighten without the boat moving backwards.
- Take a GPS bearing. Note your position once set and compare to the scope calculator to confirm you have adequate chain for the depth.
Recommended anchor types for this bottom: Delta, Rocna, CQR. See our guide to anchor types by bottom for detailed comparisons.
