Sardinia's crystalline lagoons, granite archipelagos, and wild Gulf of Orosei sea-caves make it one of the Mediterranean's finest sailing destinations. The La Maddalena Archipelago National Park requires a mandatory permit and restricts night anchoring. The Maestrale funnels between Corsica and Sardinia reaching Force 9. La Maddalena Archipelago — Mandatory Park Permit

All vessels entering La Maddalena National Park must hold a valid park permit purchased at parconazionalelamaddalena.it or via the BlueDiscovery app before entry. Sailboats receive ~40% discount. Night anchoring (21:00–08:00) is prohibited throughout the park — designated mooring buoys at Cala Portese, Porto Palma, Spargi, and Budelli must be used. Day-trippers without buoys must depart before 21:00. The pink sand of Budelli (Spiaggia Rosa) is completely closed to landing.

Maestrale Warning — Force 9 Possible

The Maestrale (NW wind) funnels between Corsica and Sardinia and accelerates in the Bocche di Bonifacio to 50+ knots when active. Onset can be rapid — watch for clearing sky NW of Corsica. Typical duration 2–4 days. Any anchorage not protected from NW must be abandoned before a forecast Maestrale. The Libeccio (SW) affects west-coast anchorages with steep breaking seas.
