Meltemi Warning — Gulf of Gokova

The NW meltemi is the defining weather feature of a Gokova summer. It typically builds from around 13:00–14:00 and reaches its peak in the afternoon before easing at sunset. In July and August it can reach Force 5–6 on exposed anchorages. Plan your sailing for the mornings, secure your anchorage before noon, and always run a GPS anchor alarm overnight. The anchorages facing E, SE, or S (particularly Çökertme and Alakışla) are most sheltered from the meltemi. Orak Island's main bay is directly exposed.

Monitor Your Anchor Overnight

Safety Anchor Alarm watches your GPS position continuously and sounds an instant alert if your boat drifts outside your set radius — so you can sleep through the Gokova night.
