Kadırga Limanı Anchorage Guide
Also known as: Kadırga, Kadırga Bay
Kadırga Limanı is the Hisarönü gulf's remotest anchorage — a completely undeveloped pine-forested bay at the eastern end of the gulf, about as far from the Marmaris charter-boat circuit as it is possible to sail within the gulf. Good mud and sand holding, pine trees to the shoreline on three sides, southern exposure (generally unproblematic in summer), and the near-certainty of having the anchorage to yourself make Kadırga the destination for sailors seeking authentic Turkish solitude. No facilities on site — bring everything you need for a self-sufficient overnight.

A remote, completely undeveloped bay at the eastern end of the Hisarönü gulf — the furthest point from Marmaris charter bases, ensuring excellent solitude. Good mud and sand holding throughout. Pine forest extends to the water's edge on three sides. A single seasonal beach-restaurant/café may operate in peak season; otherwise no facilities. The anchorage opens southward but is rarely affected by swell in summer.
Setting Your Anchor
The bottom at Kadırga Limanı is primarily mud and sand with reliable holding when properly set. Use the following approach:
- Approach slowly and check your depth sounder on the way in. At 5–18m, deploy at minimum 7:1 scope (126m chain at 18m depth).
- Drop into the wind or current and pay out chain steadily as the boat drifts back — do not allow chain to pile on the anchor.
- Set firmly in reverse. Apply moderate throttle astern for 30–60 seconds. The chain should tighten without the boat moving backwards.
- Take a GPS bearing. Note your position once set and compare to the scope calculator to confirm you have adequate chain for the depth.
Recommended anchor types for this bottom: Rocna, Mantus, Delta. See our guide to anchor types by bottom for detailed comparisons.
Overnight Anchoring & Anchor Alarm
Overnight stays at Kadırga Limanı are feasible but require monitoring. The anchorage is exposed to S and SE winds.
Set your GPS anchor alarm to 80m radius before going below for the night.80m recommended at typical anchoring depths of 8–12m to account for light overnight breeze shifting direction and the open southern exposure. If a southerly is in the forecast, consider Söğüt (sheltered) or Turgut (fully enclosed) as alternatives.
The most remote and solitary anchorage in the Hisarönü gulf. Best May–June and September–October for settled conditions and true solitude. Even in peak July–August, rarely more than 5–6 boats overnight. A destination for sailors who want the Aegean of 30 years ago. Bring everything — do not rely on the seasonal café.
Navigation Hazards
- Remote location — nearest facilities at Söğüt (5nm) or Bozburun (8nm); have all spare parts, food, and water before arriving
- Exposed to south and southeast — check forecast carefully before committing to overnight
- Pine forest fire risk in dry season (July–August): no barbecues or open fires ashore
- No mobile signal in parts of the bay — VHF radio your only communications link
Rules & Regulations
- Permit: Not required
- Anchoring fee: Free
- Maximum stay: 11 days

Skipper's Tips
- Provision fully at Bozburun or Söğüt before arriving — Kadırga has nothing reliable ashore
- The best approach is from the west along the southern Hisarönü shore; approach on the centreline of the bay to avoid the shallows near the eastern and western headlands
- A sunrise swim in flat calm water with pine forest all around and no other boats: this is why sailors come to Kadırga
- If you need mobile connectivity, anchoring slightly south of centre gives the best signal
- The forest walk up the eastern hillside leads to a ridge with views over the Datça channel and the open Aegean
A note on this guide: The data in this guide has been researched from multiple sailing sources and is provided in good faith. Anchorage conditions — including depth, holding, and local regulations — can change. Before visiting, always check current weather forecasts, NAVTEX and VHF weather bulletins, and consult your up-to-date charts. Conditions at anchor can deteriorate quickly, especially with the summer meltemi. Use a GPS anchor alarm and never rely solely on a guide for navigational decisions.
