Latsi Harbour Anchorage Guide
Also known as: Latchi, Latchi fishing harbour, Latsi marina, Polis harbour
Latsi is a charming fishing harbour turned small marina on Chrysochou Bay — floating docks for visiting yachts in 2–4m over sand, with water and power on the pontoons. Fish tavernas and restaurants sit directly on the quay, making this one of the most enjoyable stopovers on the west coast. Protected from the S sector; open to NW and W (Chrysochou Bay has a wide NW fetch). The gateway to the Akamas Peninsula and Blue Lagoon, 4nm north by sea. Excursion boats depart from 09:00 in summer. Call ahead for pontoon availability in July and August.

Charming working fishing village turned small marina in Chrysochou Bay. Floating docks for visiting yachts in 2–4m over sand. Water and power available on the pontoons. Protected from S, SE, E, and NE; open to the NW and W (Chrysochou Bay has a wide NW fetch). The harbour is comfortable in summer conditions when the afternoon sea breeze is from the W–SW but the breakwater provides meaningful shelter. Fish tavernas and restaurants directly on the quay — one of the best waterfront dining experiences on the west coast. Gateway to the Akamas Peninsula and Blue Lagoon (4nm N by sea). Excursion boats depart from here for the Blue Lagoon from 09:00 July–August. Call ahead for pontoon availability in peak season. 60m alarm radius reflects the semi-enclosed harbour in 2–4m sand.
Setting Your Anchor
The bottom at Latsi Harbour is primarily sand with reliable holding when properly set.
- Check for Posidonia seagrass before dropping the anchor — snorkel or use a waterproof camera to verify a sand patch. Posidonia is EU-protected throughout Cypriot waters; fines apply for damage.
- Anchor in 2–4m. Cyprus tidal range is negligible (<30cm) — no tidal correction needed. Wind-driven sea level variation up to 0.5m possible in strong onshore conditions.
- Deploy at least 5:1 scope (20m chain at 4m depth). Set firmly in reverse — 30–60 seconds at moderate throttle.
- Use the scope calculator to confirm adequate chain.
Recommended anchor types: Rocna, Mantus, Spade.
Overnight Anchoring & Anchor Alarm
Overnight stays at Latsi Harbour are best in settled conditions — the anchorage is exposed to NW and W winds. The key overnight consideration on the Paphos west coast is the afternoon westerly sea breeze — builds 15–20kt from midday, creating swell at west-facing anchorages.
Set your GPS anchor alarm to 60m radius before going below. 60m radius in semi-enclosed harbour. Water and power on pontoons. Gateway to Akamas Peninsula and Blue Lagoon (4nm N). Open to NW and W — verify forecast before overnight stay.
Open April–October as the primary north Paphos coast base. April and May offer the best balance of good weather and low crowds. June–August is peak season — the harbour is busiest with excursion boats and visiting yachts; pontoon berths are limited and advance booking is recommended. September and October are excellent: warm water, fewer boats, and the Akamas walks and hinterland are at their most pleasant. The harbour is sheltered enough for a winter base in suitable conditions.
Navigation Hazards
- Open to NW and W — Chrysochou Bay has a wide NW fetch; uncomfortable to untenable in strong NW winds; monitor forecast before overnight stay
- Afternoon westerly sea breeze 15–25kt daily May–Sep — departure before 09:00 recommended for northbound boats heading to Blue Lagoon or Akamas
- Peak season (July–August) pontoon berths fill quickly — call ahead; excursion boat traffic from 08:00 creates wash in the harbour
- No fuel on site — plan fuel needs in advance; nearest fuel dock at Paphos (18nm S)

Always check forecasts and current official charts before visiting. Use a GPS anchor alarm and never rely solely on a guide for navigational decisions.
