Cyprus — Polis & Chrysochou Bay

Anchorages in Polis & Chrysochou Bay

Cyprus's quietest sailing waters — the Akamas Peninsula, Blue Lagoon, Latchi fishing harbour, and Polis Bay offer the most unspoilt coastline on the island. Home to sea turtle nesting beaches, the legendary Fontana Amorosa, and some of the Mediterranean's finest wild anchorages.

Akamas National Park — Turtle Nesting Beach Restrictions (June–September)

The Akamas Peninsula is a designated national park and EU Natura 2000 site. Lara Bay and Toxeftra Beach are critical sea turtle nesting sites (Caretta caretta and Chelonia mydas) — anchoring within 200m of these beaches is prohibited June–September. No landing on these beaches without permission from the Lara Conservation Station during the nesting season. Do not shine deck lights toward the beach at night — light disorients hatchlings. Posidonia meadows are EU-protected throughout Chrysochou Bay — snorkel to verify sand patches before anchoring.
