About This Anchorage

Võsu is one of Estonia's favourite small beach resort villages — a place of pine forest, white sand beach, and relaxed summer atmosphere. The village sits at the edge of Lahemaa National Park, and the surrounding forest contains some of the park's characteristic glacial landscapes — huge erratic boulders deposited by Ice Age glaciers, now half-buried in pine forest. The village has a strong summer tourism tradition and fills up with Estonian holidaymakers in July. For sailors, Võsu provides a beautiful lunch stop or short anchorage with access to the beach — but the open northern exposure means it is not a safe overnight destination unless conditions are settled and the forecast is guaranteed southerly.

Skipper's Tips

  • Perfect lunch stop in settled summer conditions — warm sea water, beautiful beach, good café
  • Lahemaa National Park forest walks from village are excellent — glacial boulders are extraordinary
  • Do NOT overnight here unless forecast guarantees settled southerly conditions and Gulf of Finland is calm
  • The pine forest swimming trail (nature path) starting from the village is a lovely 2-hour walk
  • July brings Estonian holidaymakers — the beach is lively with families and summer atmosphere
