2022 Island-Wide Mooring Buoy Rules & Maestrale Warning

Since 2022, Corsica has implemented mandatory mooring buoy reservations in all high-protection zones island-wide (Rondinara, Santa Giulia, Palombaggia, Bonifacio area, Girolata, and north coast bays). Book via local port authorities or dedicated apps. €20–40/night. Free anchoring restricted in designated zones Jun–Sep. — The Maestrale (Mistral amplified through the Strait of Bonifacio) can reach 60 kt — double the mainland Mistral strength. Allow 3–4 days after the last Mistral before attempting the Strait. The Libeccio (SW) arrives with no warning on the W coast.
