Best Anchorages Around Kuşadası & Didim

From the cruise ship port of Kuşadası and the National Park coast of the Dilek Peninsula to the ancient oracle coast at Didim and the Samos Strait. These 8 anchorages have been verified for depth, bottom type, and wind protection — each with a tailored anchor alarm radius recommendation.

About the Kuşadası & Didim Region

Prevailing Wind

Meltemi from the NW, typically 10:00–18:00 June to September, 20–35 knots in July–August. South-facing bays (Akbük, Didim approaches) are preferred during the meltemi. The Samos Strait can see accelerated winds when the meltemi funnels through.

Best Season

May–June and September–October for settled conditions and manageable crowds. July–August is peak cruise ship season in Kuşadası — the harbour area is exceptionally busy. Dilek Peninsula NP anchorages stay quieter throughout the season.

Dilek Peninsula National Park

Anchoring is allowed in most NP waters but restrictions apply in some zones — check signage on arrival. No fires under any circumstances. No fishing. Environmental rules are strictly enforced. NP entry fee applies when going ashore.

Samos Strait Warning

The Samos Strait is an active Greece/Turkey maritime border. Turkish coast guard regularly patrols the Turkish side; Greek coast guard the Greek side. Do NOT cross into Greek waters without prior formal Greek entry at a designated port of entry. Violations are treated seriously by both authorities.

Kuşadası Cruise Ship Warning

Kuşadası is one of Turkey's busiest cruise ship ports. Multiple large vessels can be in port simultaneously, each manoeuvring with tug assistance in the harbour. Give a minimum 200m clearance to the cruise ship berth and manoeuvring area at all times. Cruise ships create enormous propeller wash when departing — this can be dangerous for small anchored vessels within 300m. Check the cruise ship schedule at Kuşadası Marina office on arrival.
