About This Anchorage
Hjarbæk Fjord is a narrow, enclosed arm of the Limfjord system that branches northeast from the main channel east of Skive. The village of Hjarbæk (population approximately 200) sits at the head of the fjord — a remarkably quiet, photogenic community with a tiny harbour, a traditional kro (inn), and one of the most complete views of undisturbed Limfjord landscape in the entire system. The anchorage in the enclosed inner fjord is among the most sheltered in Denmark — completely landlocked, thick mud, excellent holding. The nearby Viking fortress of Spøttrup (15th-century, 6nm by bike) and the Spøttrup Borg Medieval Museum make this an excellent base for inland exploration. The beech forests around Hindborg on the fjord's east shore are exceptional.

Skipper's Tips
- →The most peaceful anchorage in the southern Limfjord — the silence in the enclosed fjord at night is total; one of Denmark's hidden sailing gems
- →Cycle to Spøttrup Borg (6nm southeast) — Denmark's best-preserved medieval water castle (1200s–1500s); the moat is still full and the interior furnished
- →Hjarbæk Kro has served sailors and travellers since 1875 — the traditional smørrebrød lunch and Limfjord oyster plate are excellent
- →The beech forest walk on the fjord's east shore (Hindborg Skov) takes 1 hour and is magnificent in June
- →From Hjarbæk, Skive Fjord (10nm west) and Løgstør Bredning (35nm west) complete the southern Limfjord circuit
