Anchorages in Liguria
The Ligurian coast offers some of Italy's most unique sailing — San Fruttuoso is accessible only by sea (or a long trail), Portofino AMP has strict zone restrictions, and Cinque Terre villages forbid visitor docking. The submerged Christ of the Abyss at San Fruttuoso (18m depth) is one of the Mediterranean's most celebrated diving sites. The Gulf of La Spezia (Gulf of Poets) provides excellent sheltered sailing.
Portofino AMP — Zone A/B/C Rules
Zone A (one-third of AMP area): no entry, no navigation, no anchoring — including Punta del Faro area. Zone B: navigation permitted; mooring buoys only (fee ~€30–50/night based on LOA); no free anchoring; boats over 24m LOA prohibited. Zone C: limited access, regulated fishing. San Fruttuoso Bay (home of the Christ of the Abyss) is Zone B — mooring buoys available (book via portofinoamp.it or VHF Ch 16). Free anchoring NOT permitted in Zone B.
