Trondheimfjord Hazards — Read Before Anchoring

  • Shore lines mandatory in fjord arms: fortøyningsbolter (iron rings) set throughout the fjord — always run a stern or bow shore line when anchoring on the fjord shelf.
  • NATO Ørland restricted airspace: drone flying is strictly prohibited around Brekstad and Ørland municipality; respect all marked military restricted sea areas.
  • Winter icing November–March in inner fjord sections (Levanger, Steinkjer/Beitstadfjord) — avoid these arms in severe winter conditions.
  • Military restricted zones near Ørland base: F-35 operations are intensive; do not enter marked military sea areas or fly drones.
