About This Anchorage
Foul Bay (the name has nothing to do with the conditions — it is an old Barbadian place name) is a relatively quiet broad sandy bay on the south coast east of Oistins. It is one of the least visited beaches on the south coast — accessed from land by a single track road, few tourists bother. The beach is wide and clean with good sand. The anchorage has reasonable shelter from the ENE trades but is exposed to south and SE swell wrapping around the south cape of Barbados. In settled conditions it offers a pleasant, quiet alternative to the busy Oistins/Miami Beach area. The fishing community uses the bay occasionally. Good sand holding makes anchoring straightforward in calm conditions.
