About This Anchorage
Fitts Village is a small traditional Barbadian fishing village on the west coast between Carlisle Bay and Paynes Bay — a quiet intermediate anchorage that is often overlooked by visiting yachts heading for the main venues. The village has a local beach with colourful fishing pirogues, a rum shop, and the genuine daily life of a working Barbadian fishing community. The anchorage provides good shelter from ENE trades and lies on the characteristic calm, flat west coast water. It makes an excellent stop for those who want to experience authentic Barbadian village life rather than the hotel strip — the Platinum Coast hotel zone begins about 1nm north at Paynes Bay. Close enough to Bridgetown for dinghy customs runs.
