About This Anchorage
Marina Taina lies on Tahiti's west (leeward) coast in the Punaauia area, approximately 5nm southwest of Papeete. It is a full-service marina with haul-out facilities, a well-equipped chandlery, repair workshops, a swimming pool, restaurant, and nearby supermarkets. Many cruisers prefer Taina to Papeete for extended stays — it is quieter, has better repair facilities, and is somewhat sheltered from the constant traffic of the Papeete roadstead. The marina can handle vessels to 60m LOA. The reef and lagoon to the west provide moderate protection. A taxi or bus into Papeete takes 20–30 minutes. The neighbourhood of Punaauia has good local supermarkets and restaurants.

- !Coral reef entrance — follow the marked channel; coral bommies on either side; enter in good light only
- !Heavy marine traffic from Papeete — ferry wakes reach the marina entrance
- !Cyclone season November–April — the marina is not a certified cyclone refuge
