About This Anchorage

Herzliya Marina is Israel's primary port of entry for foreign yachts and the largest, best-equipped marina in the country. The facility has 680 berths accommodating vessels up to 35m LOA, a dedicated visitor dock with shore power, water, Wi-Fi, and excellent access to the chandleries and marine services on the marina perimeter. Tel Aviv city centre is 12km south — easily reached by Uber or taxi. The marina strip has restaurants, bars, cafes, and a beach directly adjacent. For international sailors, Herzliya is the standard first stop in Israel: Cyprus (Larnaca or Limassol) is typically the last port before arrival, 185nm to the west. Contact the Israeli Navy on VHF 16 at 25nm offshore — this is non-negotiable. The marina's excellent facilities, friendly English-speaking staff, and strong sailing community make the arrival formalities worthwhile. This is not a place to anchor off — use the marina exclusively.

Skipper's Tips

  • Call the Israeli Navy on VHF 16 at 25nm out — have all passports, vessel documents, and crew list ready before the call
  • Arrive on a weekday morning (09:00–12:00) to allow time for security screening before offices close
  • The marina office staff are experienced with foreign yachts and speak excellent English — ask them for current security zone information

  • Provisioning at the nearby Shufersal supermarket is good — Israeli produce, excellent fresh vegetables and fruit

Best Months & Season

Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct, Nov

April–June and September–November are the best months. July–August is hot (30–35°C), humid, and busy. December–February brings winter storms — NW gales and significant swell. The Levant sea breeze (afternoon westerly) makes summer sailing manageable but light at night.
