Nemunas Delta — remote wetland sailing with critical border warning

The Nemunas Delta is outstanding wilderness sailing — but it requires preparation and respect for its rules. Kaliningrad border: The lower Nemunas River forms the border with Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. Do NOT cross the river centreline in the border zone — the south bank is Russian territory. Contact Lithuanian State Border Guard (VSAT) before approaching this area. Navigation: Delta channels are shallow and unmarked in many areas — go dead slow and use your depth sounder at all times. Channel depths change seasonally. Nature reserve: The entire delta is Nemunas Delta Regional Park — no fires outside designated areas, no disturbance to nesting birds (especially April–July), dead slow wake in all channels. Self-sufficiency: Most delta anchorages have no facilities — be completely self-sufficient before entering the delta system.

Set Your Anchor Alarm in the Delta

In the Nemunas Delta's shallow channels and lagoon edges, an anchor dragging toward a reed bank or shallow edge can happen silently at night. Safety Anchor Alarm monitors your GPS position continuously in even the most remote anchorages.
