About This Anchorage
Anse Figuier is a small, quiet bay on Martinique's south coast notable for the Écomusée de la Martinique — a well-regarded museum of traditional Martiniquais culture, agriculture, and craftsmanship set in a historic plantation estate just inland from the bay. The anchorage itself is on sand with good NE trade wind protection, and the bay is calm enough for a comfortable overnight stop in normal conditions. The surrounding coast has a more unspoiled character than the busy marina strip around Le Marin — fewer charter boats and more genuine countryside. The Écomusée is one of the best museums on the island and an excellent shore excursion for crew interested in Martinique's cultural history. The bay has a small beach and is walkable to the museum.
