About This Anchorage
Ærøskøbing is consistently cited as one of the most beautiful small towns in northern Europe — 400-year-old half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and virtually unchanged since the 18th century. The anchorage off the harbour gives direct access by dinghy. The town has excellent provisions, a bakery, pharmacy, and several restaurants. A UNESCO candidate for cultural heritage. The ferry from Svendborg arrives regularly — the wake can disturb the anchorage briefly. Bottom is mud and sand; eelgrass fringes the inshore shallows and must be avoided.

- →Arrive from the north via Ærø Sund — well buoyed and straightforward; the southern approach via Marstal is also clear
- →Dinghy ashore to the town quay — the medieval streets are best explored on foot; the Ærø Museum and bottle-ship museum are unmissable
- →The harbour has excellent facilities if you prefer alongside; book ahead in high season (+45 62 52 07 50)
- →Best anchorage position: centre of the sandy patch, bearing 090° from the harbour entrance light, in 3m
- →For a weather-free overnight: proceed 3nm SW to the sheltered anchorage at Erø Flak (east of Ærøskøbing) in westerly conditions
