About This Anchorage
Pärnu is Estonia's undisputed 'Summer Capital' — a resort town of exceptional charm where Estonians have been holidaying since the 19th century when Russian nobility discovered the therapeutic properties of the sea air and mud baths. The beach (3km of white sand, backed by pine forests) is one of the finest in the eastern Baltic. The Pärnu Old Town has remarkable Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture, and the spa culture remains deeply embedded — treatments using local mud and saltwater are widely available. The marina on the Pärnu River provides excellent shelter, though the river bar entrance requires checking current depths. July and August see the town at its most vibrant — the Pärnu Film Festival (international) and various summer concerts fill the town.
