About This Anchorage

Baie de Douarnenez is one of the finest natural anchorages in S Brittany — a large, well-sheltered bay with excellent holding and the characterful town of Douarnenez behind. Douarnenez was historically the sardine capital of France and is still an active fishing port with a famous maritime museum (Port-Musée) of floating historic vessels. The surrounding Crozon Peninsula (Cap Sizun) is one of Brittany's most dramatic landscapes. The Raz de Sein (one of France's most dangerous tidal passages) is 8nm W.
