About This Anchorage

Barfleur is a perfectly preserved medieval granite fishing village — the finest village on the Normandy coast and one of the most beautiful in France. The village was one of the busiest ports in Normandy in the Middle Ages (William the Conqueror departed from nearby La Barfleur Point for the 1066 conquest). The granite quays, ancient houses, and dramatic granite lighthouse at Pointe de Barfleur make this one of the most atmospheric harbours on the Channel coast. The inner harbour dries — anchor outside and use the dinghy. The anchorage is open to E/NE.
