About This Anchorage

Carteret on the W coast of the Cotentin Peninsula is the closest French port to Jersey (20nm) — the most popular Channel Islands crossing point for mainland France. The Cap de Carteret (137m) provides dramatic cliffs, and the town of Barneville-Carteret has a pleasant beach resort character. Excellent sand holding. The tidal range here is among the highest on the French coast (7–8m springs) — the harbour dries and the outer anchorage requires careful depth calculation. The Route du Cap (coastal path on the cliff) is spectacular.
