About This Anchorage
Granville is the gateway to Mont Saint-Michel and the Îles Chausey — a dramatic headland town rising 50m above the sea, with one of the highest tidal ranges in France (8m springs). The old town (Haute Ville) on the rocky headland has Vauban fortifications and exceptional views of the Cotentin coast. The Îles Chausey (15nm W) have even more dramatic tides (12m!) and are accessible only with careful tidal planning. Christian Dior's childhood home is in Granville — there is an excellent Dior museum. Gateway to Mont Saint-Michel Bay (greatest tidal range in Europe).
