Slovenia's Largest Marina

Marina Portorož is the oldest and largest marina in Slovenia — founded in 1974, with over 1,000 berths (650 water berths + 300 dry storage) for boats up to 30m LOA and 3.8m draft. Three mobile crane systems up to 60 tonnes, climate-controlled storage halls, full technical services including hull osmosis treatment, sailmakers, and electronics. It is the standard base for charter fleets departing to Croatia and the preferred wintering location for boats crossing the Mediterranean.

Portorož Town

Portorož is Slovenia's main resort town — hotels, restaurants, a casino, and a spa strip directly behind the marina. The international airport is 2km inland. Ferry connections to Venice and Trieste operate in summer. Portorož is 2nm SE of Piran old town by water — easily accessible by dinghy or water taxi. The resort atmosphere contrasts sharply with Piran's medieval character; both are within easy reach of the marina.

Northern Adriatic Tides

Portorož sits in the Gulf of Trieste, where tidal range reaches 1m or more at springs. In the marina, berth selection must account for tidal variation — confirm your draft against the berth depth at low water, not mean level. In open anchorages near Portorož, add 1–2m to alarm radius for tidal rode movement and anchor in 2m more water than your draft requires.

Approach Marina Portorož from the NW. The entrance channel is 22m wide and 3.5m deep — deeper than the maximum berth draft of 3.8m (check tide state before entering if your draft approaches this limit). Contact the marina on VHF Ch 17. Harbour master VHF Ch 16. The marina is open 24 hours year-round.
