About This Anchorage

Calliaqua Bay is a working fishing community bay on the southeast coast of St. Vincent, convenient to Argyle International Airport and offering a transit anchorage for sailors arriving by air for crew changes or departing after a Grenadines passage. The bay itself is more open than Blue Lagoon or Villa Beach — exposed to SE winds and swell — and is primarily used as a temporary stop rather than a destination anchorage. The local fishing village of Calliaqua has small shops and rum bars, and the bay provides good views of the volcanic interior of St. Vincent. Argyle International Airport, SVG's main airport, is only 3nm away by water taxi or car, making this bay convenient for crew logistics. The anchorage is workable in settled NE trade conditions but the open SE exposure makes it unsuitable in southerly swell.
