About This Anchorage
Åhus is a small Skåne coastal town at the mouth of the Helge å river — best known internationally as the home of Absolut Vodka (the original distillery is here and runs tours). The sandy beach coastline of Skåne is a dramatic contrast to the rocky Bohuslän and archipelago coasts further north — flat, open, with wide sand beaches stretching for kilometres. The anchorage off the harbour mouth uses the extensive shallow sandbars as holding ground. Åhus is conveniently positioned between Karlskrona (35nm east) and Falsterbo (50nm west) for south-Baltic passage sailors. The town has a pleasant medieval centre and the Absolut Vodka visitor experience.
