About This Anchorage
Baie du Lazaret near La Seyne-sur-Mer (W of Toulon) is the best all-weather anchorage on the western Côte d'Azur — outstanding Mistral shelter, excellent sand-and-mud holding, and easy access to Toulon for provisioning and fuel. Toulon is France's main naval base — warships are a constant presence. The bay itself is sheltered by the large Peninsula of Cap Sicié and the Presqu'île de Giens, creating a natural all-weather harbour. Less scenically glamorous than St-Tropez but a reliable, practical anchorage.
