About This Anchorage
The Ķemeri coast anchorage sits off one of Latvia's most extraordinary national parks — Ķemeri National Park, which protects a remarkable mosaic of bog landscapes, mineral springs, forest, and Baltic coastline just 35km from Riga. The park is best known for its Great Bog (Lielais tīrelis), accessible via a wooden boardwalk — one of the most impressive bog landscapes in the eastern Baltic, with carnivorous plants, bog pools, and the silence of a truly wild place within easy distance of the capital. The coastal anchorage off the park gives access to pristine sandy beach backed directly by protected forest — no houses, no development, no crowds. For sailors seeking the contrast between Jūrmala's lively resort atmosphere and Latvia's wild coastal nature, this anchorage delivers perfectly. The mineral springs at Ķemeri spa (the historic spa town is 4km inland) were famous throughout the Russian Empire for their therapeutic properties, and the historic Ķemeri Hotel (now restored) stands as testament to the spa's 19th-century grandeur. The anchorage is for settled conditions only — fully exposed to southwesterly swells.

Set Your Anchor Alarm to 75m
In Jūrmala's busy waters and near Riga's commercial port approaches, Baltic wind-driven water level changes and passing vessel wash can drag a poorly set anchor. Safety Anchor Alarm monitors your GPS position continuously during Latvia's Jun–Aug sailing season.
