Recommended Anchor Alarm Radius

55m

55m covers typical swing in 3–4m on mud/clay. The bay is enclosed enough that 50m is comfortable in settled conditions. Increase scope in NW wind — short fetch from open passage can produce more motion than expected.

About This Anchorage

Finnhamn is one of the most loved stops in the middle archipelago, a forested island with a famous naturist tradition, hiking trails, sauna, and a hostel/cafe that has operated continuously for decades. The anchorage in Finnhamnsviken offers near-all-round protection with excellent holding on mud and clay — a safe overnight stop in most summer conditions. The middle archipelago position, roughly 35km from central Stockholm, makes it accessible by ferry from the city or by day-sail from either inner or outer archipelago. The island belongs to the Stockholm archipelago conservation area and has no permanent residents. Drinking water is available from the hostel for a small donation.
