Recommended Anchor Alarm Radius

55m

55m suitable for Grindasund where swinging room is restricted by the narrow channel. In the south bay, 65m is more appropriate to account for additional fetch. The inner archipelago is more sheltered overall — wind speeds are typically 2–4kts less than open water.

About This Anchorage

Grinda is the quintessential inner Stockholm archipelago destination — a forested island 25km east of the city with a famous manor house hotel (Grinda Värdshus), excellent restaurant, sauna with lake dip, and beautifully maintained hiking trails. The anchorage in Grindasund offers all-round protection in a narrow wooded sound with mud holding that is among the best in the inner archipelago. Well-connected by Waxholmbolaget ferries from Stockholm Strömkajen, Grinda is a natural first stop for boats arriving from or departing to the city. The island is state-owned and free to explore under Allemansrätten.
