Gorica Bay

About This Anchorage

Gorica is a tiny coastal hamlet just 2nm south of Obzor — a quieter and marginally more sheltered cove than the open Obzor roadstead. The small natural headland provides some shelter from northerly winds, and the mixed sand-mud bottom gives better holding than the pure sand of more exposed beaches nearby. Gorica has essentially no tourist infrastructure — a handful of private summer houses and a small beach visited primarily by Bulgarians from the nearby town. The cove is an ideal quiet alternative to Obzor for sailors who prefer an undeveloped overnight anchorage with a view of forested hillsides rather than a resort town waterfront. The passage between Gorica and Obzor can be made in minutes, making it easy to combine provisioning in Obzor with an overnight in the quieter Gorica cove.
