About This Anchorage
Harmani Bay lies south of the Sozopol Old Town peninsula, providing the shelter from northeast winds that the north anchorage lacks. When the characteristic summer NE is blowing — the Black Sea equivalent of the Aegean Meltemi — Harmani is the comfortable overnight choice. The Sozopol peninsula blocks the NE airstream effectively, creating a genuine lee. The Harmani Beach is a sandy stretch popular with Bulgarian families in summer, giving this anchorage a lively, local character quite different from the tourist atmosphere of the Old Town. The view back to the Old Town from Harmani — the stone houses cascading down the rocky peninsula, the church silhouettes above — is beautiful in the evening light. A practical and comfortable base for exploring Sozopol when the typical summer NE is established.
