About This Anchorage
Nesebar Bay South lies in the natural shelter created by the Nesebar rocky peninsula, making it the preferred overnight anchorage when the typical summer NE wind is blowing. The peninsula's mass deflects the northeast airstream, creating a genuine lee that the north anchorage lacks. From here the view of the Old Town is equally dramatic — the medieval church silhouettes visible above the causeway. The bay is less busy with tourist boat traffic than the north side, and the shallow sandy bottom provides reliable holding. This is a practical base for exploring the Nesebar Old Town while maintaining comfortable onboard conditions during the summer northeast wind pattern. The Sunny Beach resort (Slanchev Bryag), Bulgaria's largest mass-tourism complex, is just 2nm north — but from here it remains mercifully distant.
