About This Anchorage
Kavarna is a compact Bulgarian town perched on the cliff edge 8nm from Kaliakra Cape, serving as the main provisioning and overnight stop for sailors exploring the Kaliakra peninsula. The town is perhaps better known internationally for its annual Kavarna Rock Festival, which has attracted acts including Deep Purple, Whitesnake, and Dio — a remarkable cultural contrast to its traditional Bulgarian fishing village origins. The harbour area below the town has basic facilities and the anchorage provides a practical overnight stop en route between Balchik and Kaliakra. The cliff-top town above is worth visiting for its old quarter and views across the Cape. The surrounding coastline is dramatic limestone cliff with small hidden coves accessible only by sea.
