Recommended Anchor Alarm Radius
65m
65m for the Æbeltoft Vig inner bay in 2–4m. The bay gives better shelter than the outer Ebeltoft anchorage from north and east. Open to south — in southerly above F4 increase radius and consider moving to Ebeltoft harbour.
Setting Your Anchor
- 1.Check eelgrass chart (DKSOS app or Navionics) — anchor only in central channel, away from fjord shore vegetation
- 2.Use 5:1 scope minimum — East Jutland fjords are almost tideless (0.2m tidal range); scope is about depth and holding
- 3.Remember: anchoring is tolerated for 1 night only in unoccupied natural anchorages — it is not a legal right in Denmark
- 4.Set your anchor alarm to 65m before sleeping — check bridge clearances if proceeding upstream
About This Anchorage
Æbeltoft Vig is the wider bay system west of Ebeltoft, offering a quieter alternative to the busy Ebeltoft main anchorage. The inner bay (Æbeltoft Vig) provides reasonable shelter from north and east with good mud and sand holding. Less visited than Ebeltoft — a good choice for sailors seeking a quieter overnight in the Ebeltoft area. The Djursland coastline here is unspoiled farmland descending to sandy beaches. Good swimming from the beach in settled conditions.
