About This Anchorage

Nemirseta is a small summer resort on the northern Lithuanian Baltic coast, midway between Palanga and Šventoji, where the coast takes on a wilder character than the developed southern beaches. The beach bay anchorage in 4–9m on fine sand offers a fair-weather stop on coastal passages along Lithuania's short coastline, with a small resort community providing limited summer facilities ashore. The Nemirseta coast is part of the amber landscape of northern Lithuania — the beaches here yield Baltic amber particularly well after north-westerly storms, and the local tradition of amber collecting is alive and active. The shoreline is backed by low forested dunes typical of the Baltic coast, and the clear water in settled conditions makes for excellent swimming. Nemirseta has a quieter character than Palanga, with a more local, less tourist-oriented atmosphere. The anchorage is exposed to the open western Baltic and should only be used in settled conditions — deteriorating weather requires immediate action to proceed to the harbour at Šventoji (4nm north) or Palanga (4nm south). This is a simple, beautiful coastal stop for those content with open-coast sailing.
