About This Anchorage
The northern face of the Hel Peninsula faces the open Baltic Sea — a completely different environment from the sheltered Puck Bay side. In settled southerly conditions this is a spectacular anchorage on a pristine Baltic beach with endless pine forest behind. The water clarity on the Baltic side is noticeably better than the bay. This is strictly a fair-weather anchorage — any deterioration from the northern quadrant makes this untenable and potentially dangerous. The beach here is one of Poland's finest: white sand backed by Scots pine, often completely empty on weekdays. Access to the beach is easy by dinghy.
