About This Anchorage
Tuzla Bay is a quiet anchorage south of Constanța, between the large commercial port and the resort town of Eforie Nord. The small fishing village of Tuzla retains a more authentic atmosphere than the nearby tourist resorts — its modest fishing port with local wooden boats represents the traditional Black Sea fishing culture that has sustained these coastal communities for centuries. The bay offers a sandy bottom with clay substrate, providing reliable holding for overnight stops in settled weather. The name Tuzla is of Turkish origin meaning 'salt marsh' or 'saltworks' — a common place name along the Black Sea coast reflecting the Ottoman period of the region. The anchorage is convenient for boats cruising the central Romanian coast, lying roughly halfway between Constanța and the resort complex at Costinești.
