Recommended Anchor Alarm Radius

65m

65m for 3–4m on sand/mud — good holding in calm conditions. The Bjäre peninsula provides some shelter from N-NE but the anchorage is exposed to the prevailing SW. Monitor the forecast carefully and have Båstad marina on standby. For unsettled conditions, berth in the marina rather than anchoring in the approach.

About This Anchorage

Båstad is Sweden's famous tennis town — home of the Nordic Open ATP tournament held every July, which attracts top international players and fills the town with spectators and a festive atmosphere. The town sits at the eastern end of Laholm Bay, partially sheltered by the Bjäre peninsula that extends into the Kattegat to the south and west. The Bjäre peninsula itself is a dramatic landscape of red clay cliffs and rocky headlands — one of the most scenic areas on the Swedish west coast. The harbour approach anchorage is used when the marina is full during the tennis tournament period. Båstad also marks the southern end of the Gothenburg–Halland coast cruising ground, transitioning to the Öresund strait approaches.

Best Months & Season

June, July, August

June–August. Båstad marks the transition from the Halland coast to the Öresund approaches — many boats make this a last stop before the Öresund crossing. Outside summer the town quiets significantly and facilities reduce. Autumn southwesterlies make the approach anchorage completely untenable.
