About This Anchorage

Lynæs is a small fishing and sailing village at the entrance to Isefjord — the large enclosed fjord that also connects to the Roskilde Fjord system. The village is tiny but has a well-maintained small harbour and a traditional local atmosphere. The anchorage south of the village is comfortable in northerly and easterly conditions. The Isefjord beyond Lynæs is largely shallow (max 6m) and eelgrass-rich — good for shallow-draught yachts and centreboarders, but deeper keel boats must stay in the main channel. Lynæs is a popular weekend destination for Copenhagen sailors (35nm by sea). The Rørvig ferry (operated seasonally) connects to the Odsherred peninsula for provisioning.

Skipper's Tips

  • Gateway to the Isefjord and Roskilde Fjord system — a sheltered inland sea largely unknown to foreign sailors
  • The Odsherred peninsula visible to the west has the famous Lammefjord (reclaimed sea, now farmland) — fascinating landscape
  • From Lynæs, the Roskilde Fjord is 15nm south — accessible by following the buoyed channel through Isefjord
  • Excellent swimming: the Kattegat water here is cleaner than around Copenhagen; sandy bottom close to shore
  • Weekend day-trippers from Copenhagen fill the area Saturday/Sunday — arrive Friday for quiet
