About This Anchorage
Rønne is Bornholm's capital and main port — the starting and finishing point for any Bornholm sailing circuit. The ferry connections to Copenhagen (overnight, 7 hours) and Ystad, Sweden (80 minutes, high-speed) make Rønne the island's gateway. The town (population 14,000) has full urban services: supermarkets, chandleries, marine engineers, fuel, haul-out, and the best provisioning on the island. The Bornholm Museum covers the island's remarkable history — from the Stone Age round churches to the 1658 Swedish siege. The Rønne Røgeri (smokehouse) at the harbour produces smoked herring in the traditional island manner. As the west-coast main port, Rønne offers the best all-weather refuge on Bornholm and the only full-service repair yard.
